Another batch of really old design I did, this time for "Masters of the Universe". I wanted to try something different  by taking a familiar show ( Masters of the Universe ) to people and make it really different in the design department. Some things turned out, others didn't, but you don't get far if you don't try something different once in a while.

I know most of the "He-man" fans out there will not like anything that looks different from the original show. I also know there are some out there that do like different takes on classic stuff like me, so to them...

Enjoy!

EVIL-LYN

In case you were missing the classics, here's something to tide you over. I am working on some new "Masters of the universe" designs that look more like what you see on TV back in the 80's, so hang on.

It is time for another addition to my "Portfolio" and this time it's "THE MASK: ANIMATED SERIES".

Most of the shows I worked on that were "comic book" based were on the tail end of the 80's action adventure show run and are not that good. Japanese studios were getting expensive for the U.S. to have them animate their series, so they sent it to Korea and in later years to India and various other places. Also some corners  were being cut, like key animation, it is usually done in North America, but on this show they took the key animation directly from the storyboards. They also only required me to do only a 3/4 front view of the characters and props for a model sheets, but that is the nature of the beast we call the animation industry.

It was still fun to work on, there was even a cross-over episode with the "Ace Ventura: Pet detective" animated show.

Next "Portfolio" up-date will be "Flash Gordon" so stay tuned.

For a while now I have been getting the DVD's of "Ultraman" that "Shout Factory" has been producing.  After watching the series "Ultra-Q" for the first time, I switched over to cable and saw a "Mad Men " commercial that happened to be showing at the time and this was the result.

SHAZAM!

I would only like to see an animated movie based on Captain Marvel since my favorite version of SHAZAM is the one from the vintage comics. They were fun and silly and made for kids, not to fond of taking superheroes and making them super realistic like they do in the movies now. I don't understand why you would want to take your fantasy world and bring it into the real world, kind of defeats the purpose of have the escape of a fantasy world.

"To each his own" I guess, that is just my preference.

Enjoy!

THE ADDAMS FAMILY

It's the family I wish I was a member of, but drawing them will have to do instead. There actually is a list of all the other members of  "the Addams family" that was mentioned on the TV show. These are about half of them, I just pick my favourite names and did those members.

I also should mention that I got the background for the family portrait from the "Scooby-doo: Mystery Incorporated" show since I can't paint anything to save my life.

IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY

This project started when I came across an image of a carded "R2-D2" figure done up to look like a spray can. The card itself was blank initially, until various street artists put there designs on them. I thought they look pretty cool and gave me an idea on what to do with the various "Star Wars" doodles I have done over the years.

I am NO street artist by any means, but I do admire their work a lot and this is as close as I will get.

You got to love all those cereal critters you grew up with staring at you from their colourful boxes as you ate your cereal. I personally did not have a childhood with all the sugar filled fun these characters provided, but I love them anyway.

This time I played with action figure packaging a bit more than I have before by adding a figure and the blister bubble to go with it. It's fun to see the "What if" scenario played out if I did the art for one my favourite things.

Some classic Devilman for ya, used to watch this and anything else I could get my hands on when I was in college. Back then anime wasn't everywhere as it is now and most watched it on VHS that has been copied may times and passed around from person to person.

Jeez I am getting old.
